Scribe stories, Vision and Roban Group!

Hey friend,

It's 11:03 pm as I write and baby Nate is wide awake, singing on my boobs and having the time of his life. We were in bed before 8 pm and I was gleefully looking forward to a long night's rest as I'd be joining a meeting by 3 am but alas, my baby had his plans. Motherhood is a rollercoaster!

As you may or may not know, I traveled home to Enugu, Nigeria for the first time in 7 years this year. It was a dream come true event for me. This is a desire that I've carried since 2019 after my first son, Zite, was born and it's been a whole struggle. It was one of the biggest desires on my 2023 vision board.

And in January 2024, God did it. We booked a flight to Nigeria and touched down in Enugu on February 9th. I'm still wondering if I should write about that journey's deep and prophetic impact on my life. Ahhh.. I won’t lie to you, it marked me and introduced me to prophetic clues. Will you be interested in that newsletter? Say "Yes, I'm interested" in the comment section of this post and I'll consider it. Being home was beyond fun. The genuine laughter, the big hugs, the banter, the red sand, the babies, and the connections were like no other. It was such a gift.

Of course, I had a mini reverse culture shock and I shared a bit about it in a previous newsletter. You can read all about it here. It felt like I came at the worst time and it was easy to fall into a sad, depressive state at the tiniest things. Little things like the fact that a lot hasn't changed since I left made me unhappy. It felt weird.

Weird because I live in China and If you've lived in any city in China, you'll know that the speed of development here is quite impressive. You can travel and come back in 6 months and not recognize where you live again. I'm not kidding. These people ARE ALWAYS BUILDING!

So I carried these expectations, albeit subconsciously, as I traveled back home. And for the most part, I was disappointed. If truth be told, some things were even worse than I left it in 2017. But there was one exception...... ROBAN STORES!

The biggest store in Southeast Nigeria

I remember Roban stores so well as a young adult. That small, grocery store near All Saints church that we used to go to buy Snickers Chocolate.

When Shoprite opened in Enugu back in 2011, everyone thought they would kick Roban Stores out of business. But the reverse was the case. They got bigger and better. They moved to Independence Layout, opened a branch on Agbani Road, and today have more than 9 branches across different states in Nigeria. It’s super exciting to see the rapid growth and it just really made me proud.

I'm such a big fan of vision and what I saw as I stepped into their Trans-Ekulu branch was sheer visionary excellence. I wrote about vision in my book because whether you're a CEO, a pastor's wife, an influencer, a stay-at-home mom, a student, or an entrepreneur, you need vision. We all do and it’s a competence that can be nurtured.

As God may have it, I had the rare opportunity of meeting the Executive Director, Mr Onyebuchi who’s the CEO’s son and we discussed getting my books into the stores. I went through the processes and signed a deal. Yesss!! My book, The Birthing, is currently stocked in the biggest stores in Southeast Nigeria.

If you live in Enugu or you know someone who does, don't hesitate to grab your copy at any branch of Roban Stores today. Take a picture and send it to me when you do, let’s celebrate together!

Publishing my first book transfigured my life

December 4th, 2021 was the day I launched my book. It's a day I won't forget in a hurry. It was like my birthday party + Christmas + graduation ceremony combined. #deliciousdelight! Let's not even mention the amount of money I raised that day. The cash donations on that day alone covered the cost of the money I spent printing the first 1000 copies. For a virtual party of less than 50 people. It was sweet and I was in awe! The journey of birthing this book has taken me to events, people, and places I've never been.

  • Imagine your name on a product in stores all over the country.

  • Imagine the lives that will be transformed

  • Imagine the pride of your parents, friends, and family members

  • Imagine the alerts you will be receiving over and over

  • Imagine the people, places, and platforms that will open up to you

  • Imagine making Jesus proud! Ah…Isn’t that what we are living for?
