One thing I wish authors knew!

Myths, Mistakes & the art of scribing.

Hey friends,

Has this week been a rollercoaster or what? Hmmmmm! From Dr. Abel Damina's trending podcast to "Very Demure", to hosting my beloved visionary authors, Mrs Noch and Naomi Bominiru on Scribe Stories on Instagram. Gosh! Those sessions have been nothing short of magnificent. Mrs Noch took us on a mini-masterclass on the art of scribing and we are yet to recover. Here are a few things she shared with us -

  • You need to be schooled in the art of scribing. There's a way to write books. It doesn't fall on you. I went on several trainings before I could birth my book.

  • Writing a book and scribing is about tuning your frequency. A book is an urgent message from God. It is a letter from heaven to God's people.

  • Having a message does not mean you know how to write because there are different ways to write. There are three ways to write - By Revelation, By Inspiration, and By Compulsion.

  • There's such a release of the scribal anointing so you've got to catch what is yours otherwise the spirit of God is gonna move to where there's a willing and yielded vessel.

  • You don't stop writing because you are tired, you stop because you are done. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Did you catch that? There's such a release of the scribal anointing, a widespread release of the writing grace, the grace of SCRIBES. Let me tell you a secret. This Scribal anointing was my leverage and propeller for birthing, "The Birthing". Haha! IYKYK

As if Monday wasn't enough, Naomi came on Wednesday and layered in a crucial message of leveraging the power of Now. She reminded us that obedience is the blueprint for our next and we must put writing structures in place and surround ourselves with the right kind of people who will remind us of the vision.

Gosh, I remember when Naomi started writing her book in 2022. It was just a simple idea that came while doing many things but she followed that trail. I remember all the messages, questions, and roadblocks along the way but she pushed that baby through. It’s such an honor playing the role of midwife in an author’s journey and I love it. It was while I spoke with Naomi on Scribe Stories, that she reminded me of some of the mistakes she made in her publishing journey. Let me share one crucial one with you.

One Common Mistake New and first-time Authors make

I don’t know where we got it from but many Africans believe in keeping their best and most significant life events a secret. That is why you’ll hear those stories of Japa friendship breakups with besties and close friends. OR is it pregnancy? Ha! Some of us find out as a surprise only when the baby arrives.

I know you may be thinking of announcing your book when you finish but darling, don’t do it. DON'T SURPRISE US WITH YOUR BOOK! You must carry your audience along through the process of birthing your book. Bringing us along on your writing journey provides a level of accountability for you and helps build KLT(Know, Like, Trust)

Most of the time, these are the people who will buy the first 10/50/100 copies when you finally launch. Your book should never be a secret. When you start this journey, be confident enough to tell everyone about it.

Action point - Make a post right now about your book on the social media platform you use the most.

There are at least three more mistakes I see new authors make and I desperately want to tell you about them but I know that the thing will enter well if I teach you instead. That is why you can't afford to miss Scribe Secrets starting this weekend.
